Red pepper is derived from crushed dried hot peppers. It is used in deli meats, various spicy meat recipes, and sauces where we want to add a spicier note.

Additionally, researchers from Purdue University in Indiana found that adding a small amount of cayenne pepper to the daily diet could help those watching their weight eat less. The compound that gives hot peppers their characteristic flavor (capsaicin) may reduce appetite and increase calorie burning.
