Origin: Greece, Imathia region (cultivated).

Storage: Store in a cool (5°C – 15°C) and dark place.

Preparation:
For a poultice, mix 50g of ground mustard seeds with slightly warm water (25°C-30°C) to create a soft paste. Wrap the paste in gauze and place it on the painful area, leaving it for 15 minutes before removing. It is recommended to apply a little oil to the area before placing the poultice.

For baths, take 25g of ground mustard seeds, place them in a cloth bag, and immerse it in 2 liters of slightly warm water (25°C-30°C). A local bath lasts for half an hour. For a general bath (for the whole body), use a larger quantity of ground mustard seeds, depending on the amount of water.

Historical Information:
White mustard originates from the Mediterranean region, from where it spread throughout Europe, Siberia, the Far East, and America. It is primarily cultivated in Western and Southern Europe and the northern regions of the USA. In addition to white mustard, there is also black mustard, which is used for poultices. Mustard is made from the seeds. Wild mustard with yellow flowers is commonly found in fields but is not used medicinally. The fresh leaves can be used as salad greens.

Scientifically Proven Applications:
The Commission E recommends the external use of mustard seeds for respiratory diseases, chronic degenerative arthropathies, and rheumatism of soft tissues.
