Citric acid is an organic acid, first isolated in 1874 by Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele from lemon juice. It is widely used as a flavor enhancer and natural preservative in the food and beverage industry, as well as in cosmetics and cleaning products.

Citric acid is essential for making bath bombs, as it reacts with baking soda to create the effervescent effect when in contact with water. It can also be used in bath salts and is a common ingredient in many homemade cleaning recipes. It helps regulate pH, making it a common component in liquid soaps.
