The Stellaria tincture is derived from the immersion of the leaves and flowers of Stellaria in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the above herbs dissolve in the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
Other Names: Chickweed, Chicken Grass & Wild Bursaria.
Therapeutic Properties
Stellaria is known for its strong anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and laxative properties and is used to relieve skin infections such as eczema, psoriasis, scratches, and wounds. It is particularly effective against itching caused by these skin conditions while also helping in wound healing. The herb contains many nutrients, including vitamins A, C, magnesium, triterpene saponins, flavonoids, omega-6 fatty acids, and trace elements like iron and zinc.
It has a high content of mucilage, giving it soothing properties, while its anti-inflammatory action helps with conditions such as arthritis and rheumatism. It also has expectorant properties and is traditionally used for respiratory conditions like asthma and bronchitis.
Modern Research
Although clinical research on Stellaria is limited, studies have shown that the saponins and flavonoids it contains contribute to reducing inflammation and healing the skin. Its antibacterial action makes it useful in treating infections, while its expectorant properties assist in treating respiratory issues.
Conditions it Helps With:
- Skin infections (eczema, psoriasis, itching)
- Scratches, wounds, warts
