The Birch tincture is derived from soaking the leaves and flowers of the birch tree in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the plant dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.

The birch was considered a sacred tree by the Turkic peoples of northern Siberia. According to local traditions, a male and a female birch appeared at the dawn of humanity. For the Russians, the birch symbolized spring. The Celts viewed it as the tree of the dead, as they covered deceased individuals with its leaves, but primarily regarded it as a symbol of transformation because it grew on the highest slopes among all deciduous trees.

The medicinal properties of the birch tree have been known for centuries. Saint Hildegard, in the 12th century, was the first to mention the therapeutic effects of birch flowers, while in 1565, the Italian physician Matthiole noted the significant therapeutic value of the juice that can be extracted from the trunk of the tree, particularly in combating kidney stones and urinary bladder issues, as well as oral ulcers.

This knowledge has been passed down through the ages to the present day. Increasingly, in recent years, there has been talk of the beneficial effects of birch on both health and beauty.
