The Lavender tincture is made from soaking lavender flowers in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
Lavender Tincture (Lavandula angustifolia) contains the same active components as the dried lavender herb. In modern herbal therapy, dried lavender flowers are primarily used to reduce anxiety and tension. Lavender is generally considered to have calming properties and can be used for melancholy and mild depression. Its extract is deemed suitable by many herbalists for treating nervous headaches and insomnia. A simple lavender extract, when used in a compress and placed on the forehead, is believed to relieve migraines, tension, fatigue, and the effects of excessive alcohol consumption (hangover). Some researchers also suggest it has hypotensive properties—one cup of lavender before sleep is said to lower blood pressure and reduce palpitations during the night.
Lavender is believed to possess strong antimicrobial action, making it ideal for healing minor wounds, cuts, etc. It is also suitable for "cleansing" the skin in cases of acne, eczema, and skin disorders. Traditionally, it is used against respiratory infections such as coughs, asthma, and bronchitis, as well as for colds or flu—often through inhalation.
Its antibacterial and antiseptic actions are thought to confer anthelmintic properties, meaning it can help combat intestinal parasites. Lavender essential oil, when used in massage, relaxes muscles and alleviates neuralgic and rheumatic pains.
Lavender is widely recognized as one of the 20 most important therapeutic herbs.
Herbal tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the plant, are particularly easy to take, and are entirely natural. They undoubtedly surpass dietary supplements in pill form, as they contain no chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent and should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops per day). They should not be consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
