Yarrow tincture is obtained by immersing the Yarrow flower in an alcoholic solution (grappa), for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the above herbs are dissolved in the alcoholic solution resulting in the formation of the tincture. 

Yarrow (Achilleamillefolium) tincture contains the same active ingredients as the dried Yarrow herb. In modern herbal medicine, Yarrow is used in three different cases. The first case concerns the treatment of flu, colds and fever. Yarrow is heavily sweaty with the result that a hot drink causes a healing sweat that detoxifies the body. 

The plant pigments and alkaloids (achilline) contained in Yarrow have the ability to "drop" the pressure and for this reason, the herb is recommended in cases of hypertension. The coumarins and salicylic acid (component of aspirin) contained in Yarrow prevent the formation of blood clots and promote overall good circulation by dilating the peripheral arteries. 

Finally, Yarrow is an effective healer. Its name and fame have come from this quality - according to Mythology the herb was given to Achilles by the Hand Centaur. Achilles used it to heal the wounds of his warriors in the Trojan War. The use of Yarrow (internally) helps fight hemorrhoids, menorrhagia and in general all internal bleeding. The antiseptic properties of the herb (due to the content of azulin and apigenin) are also important in cases of bleeding.

Tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are very simple to take and completely natural. They are undoubtedly superior to dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals and preservatives and are absorbed much more efficiently by the body.

Herbal tinctures are very effective and therefore should be consumed according to their instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (about 10-20 drops per day). They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
