Organic Rosemary essential oil is obtained from the leaves and branches of the rosemary plant (Rosmarinus officinalis) through steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant material is between 1% and 3%.
Organic Rosemary essential oil is a clear to yellowish liquid, sometimes even greenish. It has a spicy, refreshing, and distinctive aroma. The essential oil easily dissolves in alcohol (1:1 ethanol), vegetable oils, and other essential oils but is almost insoluble in water.
The main components are camphor and pinene, with borneol, α-terpineol, limonene, caryophyllene, myrcene, p-cymene, and vinyl acetate present in smaller concentrations.
The constituents of organic rosemary essential oil also have medicinal characteristics. They can be used for massage, inhalation, as an ointment, or in bath oils.
In aromatherapy, organic rosemary essential oil is used in small concentrations, primarily in bath oils or diffusers.
Organic rosemary essential oil is used in cosmetics and perfumery, mainly in herbal, fern, and amber notes. It is also an ingredient in eau de cologne, lavender water, and is utilized in a wide range of personal care products (soaps, shampoos, deodorants). Rosemary essential oil is suitable for blends with pine needles, lavender, bay, marjoram, mandarin, thyme, hyssop, and lemon.
Organic rosemary essential oil is generally not used in food and beverage preparation. However, it is utilized at an industrial level for flavoring spicy and Mediterranean dishes.
Rosemary essential oil is used in aromatherapy for circulatory issues, headaches, fatigue, skin infections, muscle pain, cramps, memory improvement, and mental clarity. It is excellent for cellulite and psoriasis issues.
