Properties:
- Gentle cleanser, well-tolerated by the skin; SLSA is milder than other surfactants.
- Excellent foaming power, even in hard water, producing abundant and stable foam.
- Viscous: forms a gel with water or a paste depending on dosage.
- Light emulsifying strength: allows incorporation of oils into foaming formulas for creamy lotions or shampoos.
- Provides a rich and creamy texture.
- Solid surfactant: enables the creation of solid recipes like bath bombs, shower bars, and solid shampoos.
- Softens solid shampoos based on sodium coco sulfate.
Precautions:
- Keep away from children; do not ingest; avoid contact with eyes.
- Powder may irritate respiratory system, eyes, and possibly skin during heating; wear gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask.
- Never overheat surfactants.
General Characteristics:
- Dosage: 1% to 20% (of the total weight of your formulation)
- pH: 5.0-7.5 in a 5% solution in water
- Soluble in cold or hot water
- Insoluble in oil
Preparation of Creamy Shower Foam:
- Combine SLSA surfactant and cold water, mixing vigorously with a hand mixer.
- Prepare the oily phase by mixing oil and emulsifier. Heat both phases separately to 70 °C.
- Gradually add the aqueous phase to the oily phase, stirring vigorously for at least three minutes. Place the bowl in a cold water bath for another three minutes while continuing to stir.
- Optionally, add active ingredients, color, essential oils, or aromatic extracts, as well as preservatives.
