Flax is one of the oldest plants in the world. The annual growth of the plant is about 60-120 cm, mainly with blue flowers. The seeds are contained in a spherical capsule.
It has a very high content (approximately 45%–65%) of alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), and is used as a substitute for fish oil.
Organic Linseed Oil can be mixed with other oils (e.g., jojoba oil) for the regeneration of extremely dehydrated, cracked, and dry skin.
This excellent edible oil is suitable for refining salads, vegetable oils, and muesli.
In alternative medicine, linseed oil is used as a dietary supplement for both humans and animals, due to its high content of alpha-linolenic acid.
Organic Linseed Oil (Linum Usitatissimum) is produced from the seeds of the flax plant and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, D, and E, and is rich in omega-3 and omega-6. It helps maintain balanced hydration for the skin and hair, alleviating skin irritations and burns. It also contains lignan, which is found in a hundred times greater quantities in flaxseed than in oatmeal, soy, wheat, rye, etc. Lignan has recently attracted attention due to its potential anticancer effects, as well as its confirmed antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Moreover, linseed oil is ideal for extreme cold or heat environments, thanks to its protective properties. Consuming it (1-2 tablespoons daily) is excellent for alleviating constipation (even better results can be achieved if combined equally with organic St. John's Wort oil).
Organic Linseed Oil can be used alone or in combination with other carrier oils for even better results. Finally, it is important to know that carrier oils are essential in aromatherapy as they serve as the "carrier" for essential oils.
