The Vitex tincture is derived from soaking the seeds of the Vitex plant in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
The Vitex Tincture has therapeutic properties concerning the hormonal function of the reproductive organs. Specifically, it affects the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, brain structures that regulate hormone production in the body. It improves the balance of progesterone and estrogen, aiding in the treatment of various gynecological issues such as premenstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhea (severe menstrual pain), irregular menstrual cycles, breast pain, hormone-related depression, and heavy bleeding due to fibroids or polycystic ovaries. Additionally, it helps to rebalance the hormonal system after the use of contraceptive pills. Typically, three menstrual cycles are required for the plant to show effective action. Its effects are potent, so it should not be used during pregnancy or alongside other hormonal treatment medications without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
Tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are particularly easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly have advantages over dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops per day). They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The Vitex tincture is prepared in Greece under the strictest European standards, using exclusively pure and tested raw materials.
