The Ceylon Cinnamon Tincture is made by soaking the bark of Ceylon cinnamon in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herb dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
The Ceylon Cinnamon Tincture is derived from the processing of the well-known cinnamon plant. Ceylon cinnamon has a long history as a medicinal herb, with historical evidence indicating it was imported to Egypt (from Asia) around 2000 BC. In antiquity and through the Middle Ages, it was a highly valuable commodity; the Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder noted that 350 grams of cinnamon were valued equivalent to 5 kilograms of silver.
Cinnamon has been the subject of extensive research regarding its therapeutic properties. According to some studies, cinnamon is particularly beneficial for the diet of those suffering from type 2 diabetes, which is the most common form of diabetes in adults. Specific sources (Human Nutrition Research Center of the U.S. Department of Agriculture) indicate that daily consumption of cinnamon may lead to reductions of up to 20% in blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides in patients not using insulin.
Cinnamon extract has also shown strong antifungal properties in certain studies. The substance Eugenol appears to be effective against oral and genital herpes. Additionally, the terpenoids present in cinnamon seem to contribute to combating viruses (antiviral properties).
Cinnamon is thought to aid in cases of gastrointestinal disturbances, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting tendencies.
Tinctures preserve all the active ingredients of the herb, are very easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly have advantages over dietary supplements in pill form, as they contain no chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops) per day. They should not be consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
