The Tussilago tincture is derived from the immersion of the above-ground parts of the Tussilago plant in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the herbs dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the creation of the tincture.
Tussilago (Tussilago farfara), also known as coltsfoot, is a herbaceous perennial plant with yellow flowers resembling small daisies. It grows in wet soils, primarily in Europe and northern Asia. In our country, it is widely found in spring at high altitudes. Its flowers have a pleasant aroma and a sweet, aromatic taste. They contain arnidol, faradiol, tannins, mucilage, flavonoids, taraxanthin, and essential oil.
Tussilago has been known since ancient times primarily as a remedy for respiratory problems. The Greek physician Dioscorides and Hippocrates recommended it for treating chronic cough, colds, sore throat, bronchitis, and asthma due to its expectorant and soothing properties, attributed to the saponins, flavonoids, and other valuable substances it contains. It is also used to relieve arthritic and rheumatic pains as well as toothaches.
The tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are particularly easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly surpass dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops) per day. They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The Tussilago tincture is prepared in Greece under the strictest European standards, using only pure and verified raw materials.
