The organic benzoin essential oil is a liquid with a brown to amber color and a balsamic, sweet aroma with notes of vanilla and ethanol. Styrax exhibits strong antiseptic, healing, and parasiticidal properties.
Organic benzoin essential oil is balsamic and soothing for chapped skin, making it an excellent ingredient in creams that protect the hands in cold, wet weather conditions. It is also suitable for chilblains.
Benzoin is an aromatic resin released from cuts in the trunk of the "Styrax tonkinensis" tree, which belongs to the family of Styracaceae. This tree is native to the islands of Sumatra, Java, and Borneo. Styrax features oval, entire leaves that are fuzzy on the underside and white, fragrant flowers, and can grow up to 30 meters tall.
The essential oil of Benzoin, also known as Moschus, is obtained from the distillation of the resin of the tree and has a rich, full aroma reminiscent of vanilla and caramel. The main molecules of its chemotypic composition are: benzoic acid 60-80% and benzyl benzoate 40%, substances with particularly effective action against bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
