The Organic Fennel Essential Oil is obtained from the seeds (fruits) of Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) through the process of steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant material ranges from 1% to 6%.

The essential oil from Fennel BIO is a colorless to yellowish liquid. It has a characteristic, sweet, and warm aroma, with a strong Camphernoten note. The essential oil easily dissolves in alcohol (1:5 ethanol), vegetable oils, and other essential oils. It is almost insoluble in water. The main component, making up to 70%, is trans-anethole, while lower concentrations include limonene, methyl chavicol (estragole), and pinene derivatives.

The components of the Fennel BIO essential oil have medicinal characteristics. Fennel has a long history as a medicinal herb, mentioned in traditions from India, Egypt, and Crete. The essential oil from Fennel primarily exhibits digestive and antispasmodic properties. It regulates menstruation, alleviating dysmenorrhea (period pain), amenorrhea (absence of periods), and oligomenorrhea (extended menstrual cycles) due to its estrogen-like properties. Suggested applications include massages, compresses, or bath oils. In nursing women, it promotes milk flow (lactogenic effect). In cases of dyspepsia, bloating, or aerophagia (excessive air swallowing), Fennel essential oil has soothing and antispasmodic properties when used as a bath or massage oil. When applied to the liver area, it may stimulate bile flow. In cases of breathlessness, wheezing, or bronchial asthma, inhalation of the essential oil can help dilate constricted bronchi. In acute bronchitis, inhalation can promote the detachment and removal of mucus and other secretions.

The Fennel BIO essential oil is utilized in aromatherapy for its beneficial effects on the mental state. It is generally recommended for combating anxiety and fatigue, to be used as a room fragrance, for massages, or as a bath oil. Additionally, it is said to be helpful for premenstrual syndrome discomfort.

The Fennel BIO essential oil is used in aromatherapy for rheumatism, arthritis, bronchitis, as a nerve tonic, and to reduce stress.

The Fennel BIO essential oil blends well with: Geranium, Lavender, Rose, St. John's Wort, Melissa, and Bay.
