Spanish Marjoram (or Mastic Thyme) with the scientific name Thymus mastichina is a small evergreen shrub of the Lamiaceae family, reaching heights of 30-40 cm. Endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, it features small, oval leaves and white flowers with a distinct eucalyptus-like aroma.

The essential oil of Spanish Marjoram is distilled from the dry flowering tops of the plant. It is a yellow oil with a botanical, spicy, and warm aroma. The main chemical constituents are 1,8-cineole and linalool, both of which have significant therapeutic properties.

Spanish Marjoram Essential Oil relaxes, calms, and stabilizes the nervous system, combating hypertension while aiding in the management of anxiety, depression, and insomnia. A few drops in water or sprayed in the bedroom can promote restful and deep sleep. It is also ideal for addressing migraines, headaches, and mental fatigue, as well as for disinfecting and treating certain skin issues like oiliness and acne. Its warming and soothing effects make it useful for massages on muscle pain and spasms, painful menstruation, rheumatic pains, sprains, and other injuries. Additionally, it opens respiratory passages, alleviates bronchitis and asthma, and helps with diarrhea, indigestion, bloating, and colic. In magical practices, it is considered a protective oil that brings luck and shields spaces and objects from the evil eye.
