Juniper, also known as Wild Cypress (Juniperus Communis), is a coniferous plant from the Cypress family, featuring over 60 species of aromatic evergreen trees or shrubs. Native to Greece, it is commonly referred to as "giuniperos."
In Cyprus, it is called "aoratos." For centuries, juniper has been regarded as an excellent antiseptic, used by castle and farm servants as a cleaning and disinfecting agent.
The essential oil is derived from the steam distillation of the plant's seeds and has a fresh, balsamic, woody, and peppery aroma. The juniper essential oil from Herbstore.gr possesses notable therapeutic properties. It stimulates the lymphatic system and circulation while providing soothing effects for varicose veins, phlebitis, and broken capillaries. It's particularly beneficial for cold hands and feet, relieving muscle pain, stiffness, and arthritis discomfort. Additionally, it has a positive effect on upper respiratory infections like bronchitis, laryngitis, and cough, and effectively combats gum inflammation, toothaches, canker sores, and oral ulcers. It helps regulate the menstrual cycle and is ideal for conditions like cystitis due to its antiseptic properties. Furthermore, it has a tonic effect on the liver, digestive, and reproductive systems, and is beneficial for hemorrhoids. When applied to the skin, it opens pores and expels toxins, making it highly therapeutic for combating cellulite and effective for acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, and wet eczema. Psychologically, it alleviates anxiety, negativity, and old psychological traumas, deepening feelings of love, peace, and health while calming, cleansing, and uplifting the spirit. It also repels insects, particularly spiders.
