The Valerian tincture is derived from soaking the roots of Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
The Valerian tincture contains the same active ingredients as dried Valerian herb. In modern herbal medicine, Valerian is used as a natural sedative and relaxant for the nervous system. Its effect on insomnia is particularly significant.
Independent clinical studies have shown that Valerian reduces the time it takes to fall asleep, decreases the likelihood of waking up at night, extends overall sleep duration, and generally improves sleep quality, regardless of whether someone has sleep issues. For this reason, Valerian is also known as "God's Valium."
Valerian is effective in almost all cases of nervous disorders, such as anxiety, restlessness, headaches, migraines, and unease. Its impact on the central nervous system is supported by several compounds, the most important being GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
One of the advantages of Valerian compared to pharmaceutical products is that it does not exhibit negative interactions with alcohol. Additionally, it has no side effects when consumed according to the recommended daily dosage.
Tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are particularly easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly have advantages over dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops per day). They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The Valerian tincture is prepared in Greece under the strictest European standards, using exclusively pure and tested raw materials.
