The Turmeric tincture is derived from soaking the root of turmeric (Curcuma longa) in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture.
The Turmeric tincture contains the same active ingredients as dried turmeric herb. In modern herbal medicine, turmeric is considered a mild natural antiseptic with antibacterial properties, useful for disinfecting cuts and burns. Practitioners use it as a powerful natural anti-inflammatory that works like other anti-inflammatory drugs, but without the side effects. When combined with black pepper, its effectiveness can increase up to 1000 times in humans.
The root of turmeric is used in traditional Asian medicine to address gastrointestinal discomfort, arthritic pain, dysmenorrhea, and to boost overall health. Laboratory studies and research on animals have highlighted its anti-inflammatory action, primarily attributed to its curcumin content. Ongoing studies continue to demonstrate that curcumin protects joints and may serve as a complementary treatment for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Tinctures retain all the active ingredients of the herb, are particularly easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly have advantages over dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.
Herbal tinctures are very potent, and for this reason, they should be consumed according to the provided instructions. The usual dosage is 0.5-1ml (approximately 10-20 drops per day). They should not be consumed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
