The tincture of Milk Thistle is derived from soaking the flowers of the plant in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the tincture. Tinctures are significantly more potent than infusions and decoctions.

Properties:

The tincture of Milk Thistle contains the same active ingredients as the dried plant. For therapeutic purposes, the seeds and roots are used. The seeds contain flavonoid glycosides, essential oil, malic acid salts, potassium nitrate, bitter compounds, and mucilage. Their action promotes the proper functioning of bile, increasing secretion and flow from the liver and gallbladder. Therefore, this herb can be used for any issues related to the gallbladder or liver (jaundice, hepatitis, cholelithiasis).

Milk Thistle is also considered an effective hemostatic for nosebleeds, heavy menstrual flow, and wounds. In modern herbal medicine, it is used by practitioners to enhance the flow of maternal milk (galactagogue) and as a digestive tonic.

Dosage:

Herbal tinctures retain all active components of the herb, are particularly easy to take, and are completely natural. They undoubtedly outperform dietary supplements in pill form, as they do not contain chemicals or preservatives and are absorbed much more effectively by the body.

Herbal tinctures are very potent and should be consumed according to the instructions. The usual dosage is 1ml (approximately 20 drops) per day. They should not be consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
