Cistus blossom water comes through distillation, comes through water vapor distillation, because blossom waters are products of the distillation of herbs or flowers and possess several of the properties of the essential oil of the plants from which they are derived.

Cistus is a typical shrub of the Mediterranean. There are several species that differ in the color of their flowers that can range from pink to white. The typical five petals, "crumpled" flowers appear between April and June.

The thermal properties have been known since ancient times. In Morocco in particular, the populations of Northeastern Europe traditionally use them as antidiarrheals, antacids and anticonvulsants. It is also used in the composition of Bach therapies.

The Egyptians and Jews of antiquity used the Cistus ladanifère in some of the rituals. It was also used to make cosmetics and numerous medicinal ointments.

Cistus blossom water is astringent, tightens dilated pores and cleanses the skin.
